Diablo Ladies Rodeo Drill Team

Welcome to the home page of the Diablo Ladies Rodeo Drill Team. Our team was formed in 1997 as a way for recreational riders to get together and share their love of horses.  Through hard work and dedication, the team began to show off their new-found skill to what we hope are appreciative audiences.

The team started their performance career at local events; small horse shows were their main venue.  Today, the Diablo Ladies Rodeo Drill Team has had the privilege of entertaining audiences at a wide variety of functions.  The team's performance schedule includes: the Spring Stampede hosted by CSHA Region 5,  Russian River Rodeo, Western States Horse Expo, Alameda County Fair parade, Livermore Pro Rodeo, Lakeport Rodeo, Turlock Rodeo, Ukiah Rodeo, Isleton Rodeo, California State Fair, Mendocino Rodeo, Niles Festival of Lights, and various fundraisers.  We're proud to have performed at these events and hope the list will continue to grow.

The Diablo Ladies Rodeo Drill Team was also featured on the Evening Magazine TV show.

ALERT!!  The Diablo Ladies Rodeo Drill Team has just signed a very special new member to the team.  While the team has always been ladies, they've made an exception to allow this very special gentleman to drill with the team.  Scroll down to The Photo Gallery to meet this very special member.

At their performance at the Penn Valley Rodeo May 19-21, 2006,
a member of the audience captured this photo of the Diablo Ladies Rodeo
Drill Team which was used on a local television broadcast.

Why Do We Drill?

When we look at what being on a drill team has given us, we find that it's more than just riding patterns.

  • Our riding skills have grown with each practice and performance.
  • Although our practices are hard work, we have a tremendous amount of fun.
  • It's a great way to make new friends.
  • It's tremendously rewarding to perform for an appreciative crowd
  • Our horses have learned from all of their experiences, too.

If this sounds like just the thing you're looking for, come
try out for the team.  We practice almost every Monday night
in Livermore, CA.  (Practice days and times subject to change.)
In order to try out and be accepted on the team, you must:
be 18 years or older; have access to a horse; have horse transportation; and, most important, be willing to make the commitment that is necessary to be part of this wonderful
team. Contact Margaret O'Brien (Coach) by email at Mobrien134@aol.com for more information.

OUR SPECIAL NEW DRILL TEAM MEMBER
YES!!  Elvis has joined the Diablo Ladies Rodeo
Drill Team!!!  His comment when invited to join?

"I gotta Follow That Dream
wherever that dream
may lead me . . ."

Bringing his mount with
him as is traditional when
riding on a drill team,
he was heard to
comment that he knew
the drills and was ready to
"Shake, Rattle and Roll".
Despite his youth, he
is an extraordinary rider.
When asked if he was
truly ready to join the team,
He replied, "It's Now
or Never . . . "

Thank you for visiting our web site. We hope to post new pictures of the team periodically. Come back soon and see what's new. Or, if you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, drop by and visit one of our Sunday practices. Contact Margaret for details.
