Diablo Ladies Rodeo Drill Team

"As long as you try to be the best that you can be, you are good enough for me."

These are the words and the philosophy of our
founding coach, Murrel Lacey.   Although Murrel
is no longer with us, the Diablo Ladies Rodeo Drill Team
continues to ride the drill as he would have wished.

In Loving Memory

The Diablo Ladies Rodeo Drill Team was founded in 1996 by Murrel Lacy as a recreational team.  It was, at this point, an all Arabian horse team.  Murrel started the team as a way for riders to meet other riders, learn horsemanship skills, and build confidence in each team member as a rider and as a person.  Murrel believed that every rider deserved a chance and if you build respect and confidence in that person as a rider, it will impact that person in their everyday life as well.   He encouraged the team to perform with integrity and, above all, have FUN!

Murrel coached the team for 3 years and then passed the baton on to the team's present drill master.  The team soon grew to include other breeds of horses and to go on to being a premier rodeo performance team.

The Diablo Ladies hold dear to the principals of their founding coach. We encourage each rider to be the best that they can be, to remember that your horse is your partner, to treat each other with respect, and that if you believe in yourself and your teammates, the sky is the limit.

The Diablo Ladies have the pleasure of performing all over Northern California at various rodeos, demonstrations and parades.  The Ladies have also performed at the Grand Nationals at the Cow Palace to the approval of an appreciative crowd.

The 2011 Performance Season

The Diablo Ladies Rodeo Drill Team is known for being one of the nicest drill teams out there.   They practice hard but have a lot of fun doing it.  And the practice is worth the effort as they have a total blast performing for their audiences.  Currently, the Diablo Ladies are accepting new riders by invitation only.  If you're interested in meeting the ladies and possibly receiving an invitation to join the team, contact Margaret O'Brien (Coach) by email at Mobrien134@aol.com for more information.

The Diablo Ladies are looking forward to the 2011 drill season and are busily getting ready for it.  They are ready for new adventures  and promise to deliver an action packed performance in 2011.  Their schedule is already filling up.  For more details about performances in 2011 as they become available, please contact Margaret at Mobrien134@aol.com or Pat at psabot@att.net.

Every year, the Diablo Ladies Rodeo Drill Team supports and promotes a local charity.  This year, the ladies are proud and honored to bring awareness to the communities of the organization Give Every Child A Chance.  The Diablo Ladies will be riding in a wonderful rodeo in June promoting this organization and their work to give every child a chance to be successful.  Click on the link above or go to www.gecac.net to learn more about this organization.

Are you planning an equestrian function? Consider entertaining the crowd with a drill team performance. The Diablo Ladies Rodeo Drill Team would love to come perform for your event. Please contact Margaret with details.
